About Us

Bath Cycling Club is now in its 127th year, making it one of the oldest cycling clubs in the world, and has a membership of approximately 100 of all ages and abilities. It is a club in the English tradition combining competition, recreation riding and sociability.

Racing

Time trialling remains the dominant form of racing with the membership but there is an active and growing interest in road racing and Mountain Biking.

Three Open Time Trials are run each year, a hilly 25 mile in March, a 10 mile in June?, and a 25 mile in September.

There are Club competitions throughout the year including the Hilly 19 in April, Circuits of Chew Valley, and 2 up time trials at Castle Combe Racing Circuit.

Many members ride Audax events - which are organised longer distance rides

Recreational Riding

The club has two club runs each week. The Sunday ride covers between 45-65 miles, depending on the time of year, and aims to return to Bath by 1.00pm. The Tuesday run is usually an all day ride taken at a gentle touring pace with a stop for lunch.

There is a long weekend "Tour" in November, based on a hotel, to enable club members to see areas outside tour immediate area.

The Social Side

There is a regular weekly club and Social nights (Methodist Church Hall, Northend Batheaston) on a Friday, as well as the annual dinner and prize giving in January.

Club Magazine

The club magazine is published three times a year in January, May and September
