Evening 10 - 14-7-10

The club's fourth evening ten mile time trial was held last night on the UC361R Frome bypass course. This event was organised by Tony Thorne who also held up the riders at the start.

Weather conditions weren't as good as in earlier events on this course. It had been a showery day and riders were in danger of getting a soaking. However the showers held off and the roads were dry. The wind was another matter. A strong South-Easterly wind made for a hard slog on the outward leg and a high-speed, top-gear dash past the finish timekeeper.

Another good time from Rob in hard conditions. It was good to see Leon back riding and back to form after his crash on the Castle Combe circuit back in May. But there was again just five riders. The armchair cyclists in the club were probably all at home watching the Tour de France highlights on TV. Ain't you lot heard of video recorders and the like?

You all need to get out riding and racing your bikes more. Otherwise other nations will again be thrashing us at something we invented or at which we're supposed to be world-beaters. Just like the trouncing Germany dished out in the World Cup football. And the Eurovision Song Contest. Although, to be fair, I suspect no-one wants to claim responsibility for the Eurovision Song Contest. Even though it was the Swiss[1].

The next club ten mile time trial on this course is in two week's time at 7:00PM on Wednesday 28th July. This will be the final club event on this course for the year. Note that the second 2-up on the Castle Combe circuit has been switched from a Tuesday evening to Wednesday 11th August at 7:00PM.
