Bath CC has an active small group of "roadies" who mainly compete in the local Regional A and B races. These local races can be divided in to circuit events, usually 50km long and the open road race events which can be up to 100km in length.
Bath CC had a relatively good RR year, most notably George Rowntree achieved his season objective by gaining his 3rd category licence after a few seasons of racing.
Peter Philips returned to club and had good form including a successful late breakaway at the Mountbatten Circuit Race at Portsmouth to gain 5th place.
Graham Wade and Matt Hargreaves, both of whom only started racing in late June due to injuries had a quiet season compared to last year but, there were some notable performances from Graham at the end of the year still chasing his 3rd Category licence and Matt gaining the Silver medal at National Railway Champs:
Bath CC finished the year ranked 36 in the South Region with 20 points;
Bath CC will be promoting a Regional B (Cat 3 and 4) road race next year as part of the new Wiltshire-Avon and Dorset League. The amalgamation of the South Circuit League and the already committed local clubs will increase the racing tally to nearly 50 events with most races occurring on the road rather than circuits. The date and venue of the Bath CC event will be determined at the league coordination meeting late October, but it is expected that the event will take place late July.
Road race results can be found on the BC site at this link and the progress of Bath CC riders as the progresses can be followed on on this page.
