special events

In addition to our regular riding, we hold a range of special events

Every year the Club organises a number of competitive and non-competitive events in addition to our club rides.

For dates and details, check our calendar of events for the year.

The calendar includes Races & Time Trials, non-competitive events, and Sunday Ride “Special Destinations”, where once a month all groups head to a single cafe via a variety of routes.

Non-competitive events include:

  • An Annual Winter Sun Training Camp – a week riding in a warmer climate, typically held in late February or March
  • The John Witty Reliability Ride -an early season shakedown to test legs and bikes, with a choice of route lengths
  • Bath to the Beach – a longer late spring or summer day ride to a seaside location with a meal and chance to enjoy the beach at the end and bus and bike transport back to Bath
  • The Annual Charity Ride – a choice of rides open to Club and non-members, with fabulous home-made cakes at the end, to raise money for local charity partners
  • Womens weekends away and special event rides such as the Womens Rapha 100
  • A pre-Christmas Santa Ride

Members also regularly self organise groups to participate in third party organised Sportives, Audaxes and off-road events. These are coordinated via the members’ WhatsApp groups.

Winter Sun Training Camp

In early 2020, 30 Riders from the age of 17 to 84 headed to Spain for a week of riding in the sun – From the 2000m peak of Alto de Velefique to the rides along the sun kissed beaches it was an  amazing experience. The trip has now become a popular annual fixture with a large group of members enjoying the riding, socialising and sunshine (mostly!).
