Youth

As a younger cyclist (under 18) we welcome you to join us in our regular club activities.

We would ask any Under 18s to fill in the parental consent form, copies will be available at Cadence bike shop, and Under 16s to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Then it’s down to selecting the appropriate activities – perhaps one of the Saturday Pacelines or Social Rides would be a good entry point.

If you are a young cyclist looking to get into more competitive cycling, you might be interested in Sulis Scorpions.  Sulis Scorpions Youth Cycling Club is the place to be for young people aged 7-18, who want to develop their bike skills, fitness and speed.

Sulis Scorpions

Bath Cycling Club is proud to be an integral part of the Sulis Scorpions Youth Cycling Alliance (SSYCA), providing youth coaching sessions at the Odd Down Cycling Circuit.

Sulis Scorpions is an alliance between the Bath & North East Somerset based community cycling clubs (Bath CC, VC Walcot and Somer Valley CC) which is supported by B&NES Council (Go by Bike and Wheels for All) and British Cycling.

Coaching is provided by Level 2 qualified British Cycling Coaches with further coaches to be trained to allow the number and variety of sessions that the SSYCA is able to offer to grow. This is an exciting time for Youth Cycling in Bath.

The SSYCA is offering youth coaching on a Saturday morning with around 17 per group:

  • Group D 09:00-10:00 age 7-8
  • Groups B & C 10:00-11:00 separate groups for age 9-11 and 11 or above
  • A 6 week coaching course costs £15 per rider

For induction courses, and other more advanced courses, it is essential to book in advance. Contact info@sulisscorpions.co.uk

Full details and session booking is available under Events on the Sulis Scorpions website.

Public sessions are also available throughout the week. For full details see Go-Bike.

Youth Safeguarding

The club has adopted the British Cycling Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy for these youth activities.

As a Go-Ride club Bath CC and as part of the adopted British Cycling’s policy on Safeguarding & Protecting children, we need a signed parental consent form the first time any rider under age 18 participates in a Bath CC club activity. Additionally riders under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or carer. The parental consent form should be handed by the parent or carer to the ride leader or any other club official before the youth’s first ride. Please contact our membership secretary membership@bathcc.net or one of our welfare officers welfare@bathcc.net if you have any questions.
